My name is Lewis Darlington. I've been an apprentice for just over four years and I'm out of Local 2. What made you want to apply to MoValley? First off, it was closest to where I was living at the time, so it is out of my Local, but also from what I've heard, or what I had heard, I mean, it's the best, isn't it? It's MoValley. How did you find out about our apprenticeship? Um, online. I just went on the internet and googled how to be a lineman and found out about whether you're union or non-union. Obviously, union is the best way to go and know what my Local was and kind of explore those avenues. Our apprenticeship demands a lot out of individuals. Do you think it's worthwhile? Yes, absolutely worthwhile. It's not easy. It is challenging, but the reward is definitely there. You feel like you've achieved something at the end of the day and, I mean, the benefits are pretty amazing. It's a good job. How has being an IBEW member impacted your life? It gave me the security of knowing that, or it gave me health insurance. Well, that was a big thing from before, and the security of a solid job. You're well looked after. If anything happens at work, you've got the brotherhood behind you and it's a great community of guys. Last question, what advice would you give to someone who is coming into this trade? I would say that if it's what you want to do and you like a challenge, then go for it. It's not easy, but it is rewarding and it can give you a good life for you and your family.
